Objective

Track daily expenses and build an automated report using transaction emails from the bank.

Process

• Collect and process Gmail HTML bodies and convert them into readable text.
• Identify patterns in body text to extract Amount, Mode, Source, and Destination of each transaction.
• Build visualisations for lifetime expenses, savings, mode of expense, and contribution percentages.
• Build a monthly report showing daily and cumulative amount alongside percentage of budget spent.

Key Insights

• From July 2019 to date, total spend is approximately ₹46L across all transactions.
• UPI accounts for ~81% of lifetime expense, followed by Credit Card (13%).
• High-value transactions peak during daytime and evenings, with a spike on Sundays after 8 PM.
• By transaction count, most activity happens after 8 PM on all days, peaking on Tuesdays.
